1935 John Deere Model A

This is a 1935 John Deere A.  It came to us in a partially disassembled state.  The current owner of the tractor bought it in this condition. He asked if we could put it into "EXPO" quality condition. We said yes.

These are the parts that were already removed from the tractor.
This is a picture of the tractor backed into the shop.
The governor and fanshaft assembly are removed. The governor is going to be rebuilt.
The crankshaft is removed. The rod and main journals are worn. The rods need new babbitt poured and the main bearings are being replaced.  The crank is being built back up to specs.
This picture shows the first reduction gear cover removed.
The crankcase sump is a little cruddy, not to bad.  The pickup and filter housing will be removed.  The entire main case will be degreased and sandblasted.
The final drive is split from the main case. Several bearings in the transmission are bad.
The front frame is split from the main case.  The steering pedestal is also removed.
The main case is ready for sandblasting.

The frame is ready to bolt to the main case.
The frame is mounted to the main case. The crankshaft is installed.
The transmission is reassembled with new bearings..

The rearend is being reassembled.
The final drive gears are installed.
The rear cover and PTO shaft are installed.
The first reduction housing is mounted. The pulley and clutch are reassembled.
The rod and bearing cap have be rebabbitted. The shop did a very nice job.
The cylinder block is mounted on the tractor.
The tractor is coming together.
The tractor is ready to be primed and painted.
A coat of primer/sealer before the final paint.
The final coat of paint is on the tractor. Now the parts need to be put on.
